Polish EU Presidency - European Competition and Consumer Day - 24-25 November 2011

President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, Mrs Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel, would like to cordially invite you to theEuropean Competition and Consumer Day which will be convened in Poznań on 24-25 November 2011.

There is a long-lasting tradition that each EU Presidency organizes European Competition Day. The Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection has decided to go one step further. As the Office deals not only with competition but also protect consumers' rights, it was decided to organize European Competition and Consumer Day.

The theme of the conference is competition and its benefits to consumers. Thus, the meeting will provide a wider perspective to look at business-to-consumer relations and constitute a unique opportunity to contribute to better design of both policies to remedy internal market failures.

Having under one roof experts dealing with antimonopoly law and weaker market participants' protection will enable us to ignite interesting debate and hopefully reach new interesting conclusions. We believe that the event will contribute to raising awareness around the issues of distortions of competition, which have been causing serious harm to consumers and the economy. We aim to invoke interest and greater attention to domestic as well as European competition and consumer issues.

Please find attached the agenda of the conference.

If you are interested in taking part in the event, please contact Ms Magdalena Lechman at magdalena.lechman@uokik.gov.pl, ph. +48 22 55 406.

We are looking forward to welcome you in Poznań and explore effective ways to develop competition policy with benefits for consumers!
